DETAILED INFORMATION

Vessel Overview

NANCY LAKIN is a unique, shoal-draft cruiser with comfortable accommodations for four or five. Wood/epoxy construction by the notable Covey Island Boatworks is more robust than conventional fiberglass and as easily maintained. Nancy Lakin can cruise in 3’ of water and can be “dried-out” without concern, opening up cruising grounds that are unavailable to most.

Accommodations

Nancy Lakin offers fore and aft staterooms with galley and dining in the pilothouse. Beginning forward is a conventional Vee-berth arrangement with head compartment and separate stall to port and a galley down the starboard side. A convertible dining table, opposite to port, will dine with six or convert to a double berth. Aft and down three steps is a bright and comfortable cabin with private head which opens into the cockpit. The port settee includes a Pullman above, a single berth is opposite to starboard. With all berths occupied, Nancy Lakin could cruise with as many as seven. The cockpit is an important social space on the yacht, available for alfresco dining and water access. Fit and finish throughout is to an exceptional standard with a variety of varnished hardwoods, white hull ceilings and headliners. No space is wasted

Construction

NANCY LAKIN was constructed with Covey Island Boatworks wood/epoxy protocol utilizing strip-style clear Douglas fir, stainless fastened and wetted out on four sides, sheathed with mat and E-glass on the exterior with three coats of epoxy on the interior. This technique has been commended by surveyors worldwide and officially recognized by the EU as the “Covey Island Technique” surpassing all scantling requirements for CE certification. For grounding purposes, a 3/8” stainless plate is fitted and affixed to the bottom.
